Leaking Leachate

My Leachate appears to be leaking around the cap connector and onto the floor, anyone else had this problem or can suggest a solution?

I've just been adding whatever I get to a 2 gallon watering can each week. No idea if that's right but I can't see that it would do any harm.

My impression is you can, but I haven't got that far yet.

It's there any reason why I can't use small branches from shrubs that I've cut up by hand?...
