You can't simply leave the drain cap open as this would let too much air in.
To avoid this problem, make a small slit in the neck of a plastic milk...

Does anyone have any tips on how to prep the Hotbin so that it keeps running whilst I'm away for a week, doesn't fill up with leachate etc?
