Hi,

Has anyone on the forum had experience of composting human manure from a compost toilet? I am intending to start a compost toilet at home and would like to know experiences, or any tips for success.

I’m assuming that if it’s a proper composting toilet and operating ok, most of the lower material will have already substantially degraded, so I’m not sure if adding it to a Hotbin would do anything, also there may be different microorganisms involved. Also putting it into a Hotbin doesn’t seem very pleasant. I’d keep it separate and let it mature for longer if needed in a more traditional compost bin. Also don’t put it on fruit or veg plants just in case. Obviously sewage sludge is put onto fields, but this has been processed in a controlled way to minimise the risk of anything nasty in it.
