The thermometer in my lid has moisture in it but the long stem one is fine. I suspect the seal has a leak. I have had my bin since December 2011.

Me too, mines been in for 2 years and never steamed up? But maybe that's because my Hotbin has never reached the advertised 40C-60C Haha.

Could yours be faulty? Mine doesn't steam up and I leave it in all the time

Internal Thermometer Tips
1. Don't leave the long stem thermometer in the HOTBIN (the display will either steam up like mine below or you'll bury it under a mountain of decaying waste).
2. When taking a temperature reading only insert the long stem 10 to 15cm (4 to 6 inches) to make sure you are only taking a temperature reading from the very top layer where things are hottest.
