    Hello,

Been Hot Composting for a few years, received my bin as a present. I looked to replace my compost stirring rake and some bulking agent this was to cost me £29.

However I am bitterly disappointed in the Dick Turpin attitude this company has to its customers north of the Scottish Central Belt. Slapping on a £48 delivery charge. I live 10 miles north of Aberdeen. In case you haven't looked at a road atlas we have metal roads up here in fact from the central belt it is dual a carriage way. So what was an order for 2 items for £29 now becomes a £77 order, what a rip off.

I can't see how you can justify this extra charge, DPD have a depot in Aberdeen so this looks like a pure money making scheme.

If like me, you live north of the Central Belt be aware of the Hot Composter highway robbers when you think of placing an order, stand and deliver for getting items to the "end of the eart"

If anyone is ordering a Hotbin, try getting it through Anglican Water. I'm in NI and not only was it cheaper than from Hotbin themselves, the postage was free. The compost stirring rake is just a long shafted decorators roller - less than seven quid from Ebay and free P&P and you get rollers with it should you ever need them. You can get wood chips or bark chippings from any nursery or DIY depot for a few quid a bag. You can even make your own bulking agent and use hedge clippings, twigs, and sticks. Also search for Compost Aerators, there are probably better tools out there for the job of stirring compost.

Yeah, I saw that the "Compost stirring rake" was just a raidiator-back roller. 👍😁
If you put sharper bend in the 90° roller-holder bit by changing it to ~45°, it's easier to push into the compost and when you pull up the 'hook' makes it easier to lift and agitate the compost.

One other thing of note with the 'stirrer', cut off those blasted sharp drip-catchers in the handle - I took a lump out of the top edge of my bin with one of those!
They can easily damage the bin if you are not careful!! 😥
