  • Corn Flakes

Hi, waiting for delivery of a mini hot bin and collecting waste ready to go. I have a couple of out of date boxes of corn flakes.I know these will hot compost but am I better to start off with green waste to get th3 heat started first. Also the cereal is very dry so do I put less shredded paper in with it. Thanks

Don't know where in the world you are. If you look at some recent posts you will see that several UK based users are having difficulty getting a good temperature at the moment. It is not helped by the freezing nights and quite cold daytime temperatures.
Although it went totally against the grain to buy material to compost, I have found that pelleted chicken manure helps get the temperature going.
You will have to experiment to find what mix of shredded paper and bulking agent works best with the material that you intend to compost.
