Hello from Fife, Scotland

Hi,
got my HotBin two weeks ago. It’s between 40-60 on the inside thermometer but the lid temp often below 40. Worries about the foamy, cobwebby stuff on the surface - is it something to worry about? I’ve put more cardboard and wood chip in in case it’s too wet. Any tips?

I too have the white foamy excrescence on the top of the material in my HotBin. I suspect it only arises when the material is hot. Traditional cold composting does not produce it. I hope it is just an artefact of the process and is not a problem.
