New hotbin advice

I have a new hotbin as of yesterday. We have a small courtyard garden and no council food waste collection. We also work from home and generate shredded paper which can’t be recycled so the hotbin seems the ideal solution.
Before I start I need to know which way up the aeration base plate goes. Assuming air needs to circulate from the bottom and the leachate needs somewhere to collect, I guess the shaped supporting “feet” need to go underneath. The base plate was wonky and, to my mind, upside-down when it arrived.
Any advice gratefully received!

Mine arrived with the baseplate already in place. it fitted smoothly with the border around it to make a smooth surface with holes in forming the bottom of the bin. But it might be that yours isn't right? so maybe use the contact form on the website to find out?
